What is Trigger Finger

Trigger finger or sometimes called finger lock is a painful condition. It is a malfunction of the body where your fingers cannot be bent or stretched as normal. It could affect either a single finger or multiple fingers & can affect both male and female.

For people suffering trigger finger, this happens because there becomes an inflammation in the tendons of the fingers or thumb. The tendons are very important as they connect muscles and bones. Tendons and muscles work together to help bend and straighten fingers and thumbs. When tendons are inflamed or swollen, the tendon sheath can produce scarring and thickening which will impede the movement. When this happens the finger or thumb can pull the inflamed tendon through a narrowed tendon sheath, making it snap or pop.
